Patra's Other Place

I started out with Patra's Place, primarily dedicated to my linen collection and stitching projects. But I kept getting side-tracked, so I decided to create Patra's Other Place for anything not related to embroidery topics. So you now have a choice. If you are interested in me, read this. If you only want to see my linen and stitching, visit Patra's (original) Place! (Please note that by clicking on any of the photos, they will be enlarged to fill your computer screen.)

I was married to Ken for 43 years, but he died in October 2022. So I am now alone with two cats, eight hens, and a few finches and parrots in one aviary.

New member of the family.

Say hello to Roger.  Our hens have been squabbling amongst themselves, and have gone off the lay, so Ken accepted the offer of a free rooster from a friend who had too many roosters, and was going to cull them.  Isn't he a bonny chap?  The hens all respect him and are now behaving themselves.  They still haven't laid any eggs for a couple of weeks, but they are going through a moult, so once they are over that, the eggs should start coming again.   And maybe we will have some little chickens as well!

Hello Roger. I love your colours and I'm sure you'll do a great job keeping those hens quiet.

Ha - he has a determined glint in his eye, almost as if saying "don't mess with me."
