Patra's Other Place

I started out with Patra's Place, primarily dedicated to my linen collection and stitching projects. But I kept getting side-tracked, so I decided to create Patra's Other Place for anything not related to embroidery topics. So you now have a choice. If you are interested in me, read this. If you only want to see my linen and stitching, visit Patra's (original) Place! (Please note that by clicking on any of the photos, they will be enlarged to fill your computer screen.)

I was married to Ken for 43 years, but he died in October 2022. So I am now alone with two cats, eight hens, and a few finches and parrots in one aviary.

A bit of this and a bit of that.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my previous post, with the sketches and news about my new job. Ken's Mum saw the originals today and said she didn't know I could draw either! I never thought much about it - I used to do that a lot, carry a small sketchbook and pencil around, and draw people when they weren't looking! No reason, just liked doing it, until I discovered that I enjoyed embroidery much more, and drawing went into the past! Ken was asleep on the couch earlier today so I did a sketch of him. When he woke up and saw it lying on the coffee table he said "That looks awful"! Well, he has been quite ill for this past week, so I guess his appearance was reflected in my drawing.

Before he got sick, he had been cleaning the bird aviaries last week, and a baby finch fell out of its nest, so he brought it in to show me.

Isn't he tiny!!!
