Patra's Other Place

I started out with Patra's Place, primarily dedicated to my linen collection and stitching projects. But I kept getting side-tracked, so I decided to create Patra's Other Place for anything not related to embroidery topics. So you now have a choice. If you are interested in me, read this. If you only want to see my linen and stitching, visit Patra's (original) Place! (Please note that by clicking on any of the photos, they will be enlarged to fill your computer screen.)

I hope you don't mind and give me grace here, but I don't read Harry Potter. I have no desire to anyway but scripture does say..When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire [an ancient occult practice], or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination [detestable] to the LORD..."
-Deuteronomy 18:9-http://christiananswers.net/q-eden/harrypotter.html .....Gina, my comment is nothing personal in any way....but the scriptures are the reason why I'm not a Harry Potter fan. I do believe the content of the books are dangerous for children especially, and not purely entertainment.

Goodness Maggie Ann, don't take this too seriously! Did you never read Enid Blyton when you were a child? Her Magic Faraway Tree and Wishing Chair books had lots of fairies, goblins, etc. in them, and I don't know anyone in my generation who has been tainted by reading them! I wonder if the British childrens' books had more of that kind of thing in because their history goes back so much further than the USA or Australia? The British peoples' medieval history is full of wizards and witches, and it is all just part of their folklore. As for today's kids, I think they are exposed to far more sinister things on the media than reading fairy/wizard stories. Some of the American daytime t.v. shows exposing people's marital woes are absolutely disgusting in my view, and I shudder to think what effect they have on children's minds and future morals.

Morning Gina...no I don't believe I've ever read Enid Blyton but I am a 'serious' gal and do take the Bible literally. I sure agree that tv programing is horrid...the world is sitting in the devil's hand for morals on alot of tv. Multitudes of kids will be buying into the wicked values of 2005, what heartaches they will be opening themselves up to that need not have been. If God speaks against wizards, thats good enough for me. For me there is no higher authority nor wisdom than my God. Don't mean to be a thorn in the side though....I only want to let my little light shine for Jesus. We each choose for ourselves..I know that.
